WHITEPOINT 7 ON 7 FLAG FOOTBALL RULES
60 yards long. 2 10 yard end zones.
35 yards wide.
Possession starts at 5 yard line.
Offensive team has 3 plays to cross mid-field (30 yd line) for a first down. If first down is achieved team has another 3 downs to score a touchdown.
Inside 5 yards from the 30 (first down line), or 5 yards from the goal line offensive team can ONLY PASS THE BALL. NO RUNS.
Juniors and Bantams - 2 20 minute halves.
Pee wees- 2 15 minute halves.
Clock only stops on timeouts (1 min long) or in last 1 minute of halves (out of bounds, incomplete pass). Ref may also stop clock at his discretion.
Pee wee division games can end in ties.
Junior and bantam division games will use college overtime rules if a game ends in tie.
Each team has 30 seconds to run a play, this will be strictly enforced by refs. Failure to due so will result in a 5 yd penalty. No warnings.
2 timeouts per half, no carry overs.
The team that wins the coin toss has option to receive ball or play defense. Whichever team is on defense to start the game will receive the ball to start the second half. There are no coaches allowed in the coin toss.
QB CAN RUN THE BALL
Pitches, underhand laterals and handoffs are permitted behind the line of scrimmage.
No downfield handoffs or laterals are permitted (beyond the line of scrimmage)
TEAMS CANNOT RUN 5 YDS FROM ENDZONES AND MIDFIELD
Ball carriers can spin. Stiff arms and flag guarding is NOT ALLOWED And will result in a penalty.
The ball is spotted where the ball carriers feet are when the flag is pulled, not where the ball is.
To score a touchdown, the players, feet, the ball and the flag belt must cross the goal line. The same rule applies for a first down.
Only one player can be in motion pre-snap.
A player who takes a handoff or a pitch can throw the ball from behind the line of scrimmage.
The center is not allowed to take a direct handoff from the QB. However he is eligible to run a route after the snap and receive a pass.
ALL players on field are eligible to receive a pass.
POSSESSION: a player must maintain possession long enough to make a football move.
One foot must be in bounds for a "good" catch.
Simultaneous possession belongs to offensive player.
Interceptions may be returned for a touchdown.
PAT's that are intercepted can be returned for 2 points.
Interception possession takes over at the point the play is dead.
The QB CAN run past the line of scrimmage if being rushed.
Overhand and shovel passes are allowed.
Screen passes are Legal.
3 MAN LINE
Blocking is allowed in ALL divisions.
Open hand blocking ONLY
No loading up, no elbows, no forearms and no shoulders allowed. (5yd penalty from the spot if it occurs, replay the down)
Blocks to the head will result in a 10 yd penalty, loss of down and possible ejection depending on severity.
Ejections can also be handed down if a player continuously illegally blocks.
A single defensive player can rush the QB from 10yds off the line of scrimmage. The ref will spot that mark on each play. The player can rush from any spot on the field as long as it is ten yards off and this player MUST raise his hand and notify the ref that he is the designated rusher.
After the ball is pitched, handed off, or passed, the 10 yd rush rule is no longer in effect and all defenders may rush the line of scrimmage.
Defensive players (the rusher) can block a QB's attempt to pass but CANNOT make contact w the QB. Will result in a 10yd penalty and automatic 1st down from the spot.
Flags can only be pulled from players carrying the ball.
Defensive players cannot hold a player (by the jersey or shorts or body) and then pull a flag. Ref will call a penalty. 10yds.
All jerseys MUST be tucked in so flag belts are fully exposed.
All players pants or shorts MUST BE DIFFERENT COLOR THAN THE FLAGS. Failure to do so will result in that player not being allowed to play.
No flag guarding, no stiff arms, or any covering of flags to prevent pulling will be allowed. Ref will call penalty.
Offsides, illegal motion, delay of game, illegal forward pass. 5yd penalty
Offensive pass interference, illegal block, 10yd penalty and replay the down.
Flag guarding, 10 yards from spot of foul, play stands.
Offsides, illegal rush. 5yds replay the down
Pass interference, illegal contact, holding runner, roughing the passer, tackling,
10 yd penalties and automatic 1st down.
Throwing flags, spiking ball, excessive celebration, smack talk, cursing, 10 yd penalty loss of down.
Any fighting will result in immediate ejection and 2 week suspension.
Any coaches or parents or players that curse or negatively speak at or to or of opposing players, teams or coaches and ESPECIALLY REFS, will result in a 15yd penalty and loss of down. Repeat offenders will be ejected. Failure to leave the field will result in a forfeit for respective team no matter the score of the game. Coaches are responsible to hold their players, assistant coaches and parents in check to this rule. Please discuss with your parents at beginning of season.
TD's 6 points.
Extra points :
From 5 yards- 1 point. PASS ONLY
From 10 yards- 2 points RUN PASS OPTION.
Interceptions on any conversion can be returned for 2 points to opposite end zone.
Saftey - 2 points.
DEAD BALLS :
The ball MUST be snapped between legs to start a play. Shotgun is allowed.
No wildcat Is allowed. Whomever the ball is snapped to will be considered the QB and cannot run with the ball.
If a QB fumbles the snap, whether under center or in shotgun he may pick it up and continue the play.
All other fumbles by ball carrier and receivers will be blown dead at the spot. Offensive team will retain possession of the ball at the spot of fumble unless it is the last down.
Play is blown dead and whistle blown when a flag is pulled, a player goes out of bounds, a ball carrier falls or knee or elbow hits the ground or a touchdown or Saftey is scored. Remind players that once whistle is blown all activity must stop.
